Vermont 2015 Day 6: Burlington

I out-smarted myself by saving $100 on my airfare to Burlington without noticing that I had to stay an extra day.  So at best with room and meal it was maybe a push.  But, hey, I got to hang out in one of my favorite towns.

I had a fairly disappointing dinner at The Guild Tavern (sorry, no pictures but it was just a steak) which was a shame since it’s owned by the same people Farmhouse Tap & Grill.  A place I like so much I’ve probably eaten there more than any other place outside of Texas.  Only Schweine Janes could be a contender.

Not So Recently in My Face: Hen of the Wood

Hen of the Wood is extremely dark inside.  So these are not the best pictures ever taken of food.

Walkabout 2015 Day 8: Sonora Pass

w15d8

I can’t emphasize enough how smoky it was up in the high Sierras due to all the fires.  The first picture in this batch should do a good job. It was also very hot – upper 90s during the day.  Not exactly ideal hiking weather.  So instead I just took a leasurely drive along one of my favorite roads in America, the Sonora Pass.  I also stumbled upon Mark Twain’s cabin.  Who even knew he had a cabin out here?

Walkabout 2015 Day 7: Lake Tahoe to Bear Valley

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  I’m terrible at keeping a blog.  But at least I broke my record from longest time between doing something and blogging about.  So, I’ve got that going for me, which is nice.

So where were we.  Oh yeah, it was early September of 2015.  I’m just had an amazing breakfast in Bend and journeyed down to Lake Tahoe. If you like big tall trees, Lake Tahoe is your kinda place.  If you like fine dining, not so much.  The fires in the Sierras made the lake smoky, so I did my best Lightrooming to filter out the haze.
