The Making of The Wallagio 2.0: Day 3

When you have walls that need to be torn down, what better time can there be than getting your friends drunk, handing them a bat and telling them to go to town?

Drinking Prague: Absinthe Time

We like to call it “Saturday Night in Prague”
-- JT

A bar so nice, we went their twice.
So here’s my theory about how absinthe makes you crazy.  I’m not buying it.  Not because it didn’t make me crazy, but because I genuinely think you have to already be crazy to like this shit.  Van Gogh would have cut off his ear if he had been drinking Mike’s Hard Lemonade.  So stop blaming the absinthe.
But thanks to our fine Bartendrix, Natalie (aka The Fake Arya Stark), I did grow to appreciate absinthe to a limited extent.
On our second trip to Absinthe Time, three of us ordered unusual drinks.  JT accidently ordered a drink that had a bug chaser.  So that’s the bug in the pictures people are playing with.
I ordered a Witches Brew that was easily the most horrible drink I’ve ever had.  But the presentation was spectacular and I wanted to video it.  So I ordered one.

Before drinking, you’re supposed to inhale the vapors produced by the fire for an added buzz.  But by this time, I was sufficiently buzzed to not register a difference.
It turned out The Fake Mila Kunis, who made it the night before and not our beloved Natalie, didn’t know what she was doing.  This night, the Witches Brew was lovely.
And Jason ordered some shot where you have to snort a line of fine sugar first.

Absinthe Time == Good Times

SoS Flashback: Calgary 2002

Ten years ago this week a couple of crazy Canadians dragged me and Pokie up to Calgary for Stampede.  If The Summer of Steve had existed ten years ago, there would no doubt have been this posting. And, yes, this is pretty much only posted today for everyone to enjoy that last picture of Pokie.

Ugh

OK. That's it. I'm giving up the booze. I got so drunk on Saturday that I laid on the couch the whole of Sunday watching such Academy Award runners-up as Not Another Teen Movie and Who's Your Daddy. 200 channels on satellite and this was all there was???

And The Jester earned himself a special prize for being both the Angel and the Devil on my shoulder that night. He was good and wise enough to cab me home when it was apparent that the street I was wrestling with was not going to be choked out easily no matter how hard I tried. I've got some nice scrapes on my right knee and left elbow from it all. Never in 17 years of Ultimate have I ever had such nice layout badges of courage.

But then he comes back to my house to see how I'm doing. Observing that I had rallied and sobered up fairly quickly thanks to eLoad, he decided that there could be no better way to cap off a night of falling-down-drunkenness than than one-on-one beer pong. I'm not even sure we finished the last game because there are still 2 cups with beer on the table.

So I am hereby giving up drinking. I'm tired of the hangovers, the blahs, the just plain tiredness of it all. And one can still have fun without drinking, right? Right???

Oh, and for those interested, Martipalooza will be August 18.
